El arte de Shuzo Oshimi sigue siendo genial。 Tiene un uso magistral del primer plano。 Sus historias se cuentan a través de las miradas。

Darío

No sé si es muy mi tipo de historia, pero supongo que está bien。

super amazing art, very on edge story, and very unsettling characters such as the mother, it made me more uncomfortable than I would like, but it's not necessarily a bad thing。 It kept me interested and wanting more, which what I like about manga, it literally left me on a cliff hanger。 super amazing art, very on edge story, and very unsettling characters such as the mother, it made me more uncomfortable than I would like, but it's not necessarily a bad thing。 It kept me interested and wanting more, which what I like about manga, it literally left me on a cliff hanger。 。。。more

I binged-read this one (95 chapters) in a single night。 It's one of the creepiest, most unsettling manga I've read。 It's about the trauma inflicted on a boy by his obsessive mother。 I binged-read this one (95 chapters) in a single night。 It's one of the creepiest, most unsettling manga I've read。 It's about the trauma inflicted on a boy by his obsessive mother。 。。。more

This manga was so eerie。 The art work was done in such a way that it made it feel like more than just a manga and the way the mother’s obsession with her son is introduced creeped me out。 The fact that the first instance we have of the mother is her letting her 3 year old son touch a dead cat is enough to showcase how weird and uncomfortable this series is going to make you。 Overall, there’s just this underlying sense of dread that fills the pages of this manga and now I want to read more! I was about as big a fan of Shuzo Oshimi's "Flowers of Evil" as someone could be when it first came out, and I am every excited about this title。 The first volume of this manga features his typical slow build with a major turn of events towards the ending。 I love the way Oshimi captures the nuance of everyday social relationships and then injects just enough horror and psychological drama to keep the reader on their feet。 The art is superb as always。 He obviously puts a great deal of thought int I was about as big a fan of Shuzo Oshimi's "Flowers of Evil" as someone could be when it first came out, and I am every excited about this title。 The first volume of this manga features his typical slow build with a major turn of events towards the ending。 I love the way Oshimi captures the nuance of everyday social relationships and then injects just enough horror and psychological drama to keep the reader on their feet。 The art is superb as always。 He obviously puts a great deal of thought into his panel arrangement, blocking, backgrounds, and facial expressions, which really make those smaller moments sing。 Looking forward to the next volume。 。。。more

Honestly volume one left me amazed。 I read the first volume in one sitting and it was just a very trilling read。 Throughout the first volume you get introduced to the characters and their personalities and by the end you end on a cliff hanger (no pun intended)。 This will definitely bring depth and complexity from what I read so if you’re into that kind of stuff please check this out。 This is one manga I definitely plan on collecting!

Realmente inquietante, y eso que apenas ha pasado gran cosa。 Pero se adivinan muchas penurias en el horizonte para el protagonista。

Sweet jesus, the build up and tension in this story is incredible, you're presented with typical "slice of life" acitivties of a normal domestic family, but there's just something that's off, especially with the mom and son。。。 and well, it's a masterful slow burn so far。 Can't wait to read more。 Also, gorgeous b&w art, the hatching is so good。 Sweet jesus, the build up and tension in this story is incredible, you're presented with typical "slice of life" acitivties of a normal domestic family, but there's just something that's off, especially with the mom and son。。。 and well, it's a masterful slow burn so far。 Can't wait to read more。 Also, gorgeous b&w art, the hatching is so good。 。。。more

Something about this story is painfully uncomfortable, but in a good way。

There's a lot to be said for the manga format, and this work demonstrates why it's so strong。 This is a suspense series, but it's a slow burn and a slow burn done well such that when there's finally a flare up, it takes us by surprise almost as much as it does Seiichi。 The horror is very well executed and the aftermath is even understandable。There are subtle clues that all is not right through the book, both in the art and (at least in this English translation) how Seiichi's mother acts and spea There's a lot to be said for the manga format, and this work demonstrates why it's so strong。 This is a suspense series, but it's a slow burn and a slow burn done well such that when there's finally a flare up, it takes us by surprise almost as much as it does Seiichi。 The horror is very well executed and the aftermath is even understandable。There are subtle clues that all is not right through the book, both in the art and (at least in this English translation) how Seiichi's mother acts and speaks toward him and how he responds to her - how they behave and react towards Seiichi's cousin Shigeru and so on。The suspense builds through this volume。 We know something is not right, we know something bad is going to happen, but we aren't exactly sure how it will or what。 And even when we get to what seems to be the moment, the artist keeps us in suspense even then。I've picked this up at my local library and find I can't want to read the next volumes。 。。。more

[review for vols 1-4]This is now my third series by Oshimi and he still manages to creep the hell out of me with something as simple as a smile。 His pacing and skill at creating mood are unsurpassed。 He is a master of psychological horror。 I keep thinking things are going in a certain direction and he either prolongs (interminably) the tension or switches direction suddenly so that you never feel like you have your footing。 What I love so far about the series is how sympathetic the mother remain [review for vols 1-4]This is now my third series by Oshimi and he still manages to creep the hell out of me with something as simple as a smile。 His pacing and skill at creating mood are unsurpassed。 He is a master of psychological horror。 I keep thinking things are going in a certain direction and he either prolongs (interminably) the tension or switches direction suddenly so that you never feel like you have your footing。 What I love so far about the series is how sympathetic the mother remains despite being the source of the horror in the series。 Mental illness is serious and affects families profoundly。 I'd say I'm looking forward to where the series is headed but I'm not。。。in the best way possible。 。。。more

This was such an intense read。 Seiichi is an only child whose mother has always been overprotective, but it’s different because she doesn’t try to confine him like your stereotypical overprotective mother would。 She’s oddly nice and great at communicating with Seiichi which makes it even more unsettling。 Throughout the whole story you can tell there’s a weird unspoken tension between the Mother and Son, because he seems aware that she is kind of off。 I have so many questions。 Definitely have to This was such an intense read。 Seiichi is an only child whose mother has always been overprotective, but it’s different because she doesn’t try to confine him like your stereotypical overprotective mother would。 She’s oddly nice and great at communicating with Seiichi which makes it even more unsettling。 Throughout the whole story you can tell there’s a weird unspoken tension between the Mother and Son, because he seems aware that she is kind of off。 I have so many questions。 Definitely have to get the second volume!!
